Mount Bromo, East Java, Indonesia. A 2,329 m (7,641 ft) high volcano is still active and spits out ash on regular basis.
The volcano is located in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, which is a popular tourist destination. Lately Mount Bromo was active in 2004, 2010 and 2011. Therefore, during the Hindu festival the habitants travel up the mountain to sacrifice food and flowers by throwing it into the volcano’s caldera.
The Indonesian Centre for Vulcanology observes the volcano and issues warnings if it is too dangerous to visit the spot.
